I started this book by listening to the audio book which was well done. The narrator kept the story moving and interesting. I was so into the story that I started reading the book. Thank God for Amazon linking my audio books to my ebooks. I'm in love with this feature.Okay enough about technology. I found this story a quick enjoyable read. If you love alpha males, you'll LOVE Alex Cruz! Although I wanted Caitlin to be stronger I understood her actions being in a new relationship where you are unsure about where you stand in a new relationship. She was book smart but not so life smart. The patience that Alex exercised with her made me love him more. The only thing about this story I wanted more of was dramatics when it came to Cruz catching the bad guy. But still enjoyed the story.

I enjoyed this one. It reads a little differently from a lot of her books in that the male isn't 100 percent in from the first chapter. It also seems a little more lighthearted. If you are a fan it's a must.
Excellent light reading very enjoyable. Hope there will be a follow on book. Can't wait to see the outcome after the wedding
Lt. Alex Cruz is a hell of a cop. He lives and breaths being a cop. He expects his men to do the same.
He's in his office when one of his men tells him that Ratso had escaped. Now Ratso is the bookeeper for Lopez one of the citys biggest drug dealers. He's a criminal Cruz want to put away.
Ratso captured by Cruz's offiers and said he had to use the bathroom. He was allowed to. He then went through a window a snake would have a problem with. He's on the lose again.
Needless to say Cruz is not happy. When Lt. Cruz is not happy, no one is happy. He's one tough SOB. CruZ lives and breaths putting Lopez behind bars and to do that he needs to flip Ratso.
In the middle of this a girl walks in to see him. She doesn't want the desk sgt. She want to see Cruz. She looks about 16 and Cruz is wondering why she isn't in school. Then he remembers the letter he was given. In in it his boss, Captain Avery, lets him know Caitlin Summers will be coming to see him. He wants Cruz to extend all courtesy to Caitlin and to help her out. Cruz is not happy but Captain Avery is someone Cruz will go to the wall for but in this instance he can't have a girl riding along with his officers and is all set to refuse Summers.
Summers, who BTW is 28, is writing a paper and she wants to us Cruz and his officers in this paper. She knows Cruz is about to refuse when she plays her trump. Captain Avery said, "You owe me."
End of story. When Cruz was a kid he came very close to being a criminal. Avery pulled him out of that life and set him on the path to becoming an LEO. Avery in effect saved his life. He does owe Avery and against his better judgment he agrees to help Caitlin.
So begins one great story full of super dialogue, great characters, actioin and oh yeah. Great sex. Just one super read and well worth those five stars.
Caitlin Summers is her name
I love anything Lisa Marie Rice writes and this was no exception. She creates and develops strong, interesting main characters sure to please any romance junkie. I want a female character to fall in love with her heartthrob, not fight the interest three-quarters of the book before she lets the love of her life catch her, and Rice always delivers. Wish Rice could produce a new romance a month but that's probably asking for too much, right?
LMR. When is she going to give us more? This little jewel of a story is classic for her. I'll buy anything with her name on it. She inserts such clever lines that are inconsequential to the plot but deepen the readers appreciation of character development. One of my favorites in this books is the "alien pod" remark. I snickered so much I woke my hubby up! Give us more LMR!
Alex a sexy hot cop and the PhD candidate. Catlin is your typical scholar by looks and Cruz a hot alpha cop. Because a owes a friend a favor a lets Catlin work at the cop shop. It becomes so much more when they grow closure and its time for Caitlin to move on.-Cruz has some commitment issue but when trouble strikes -he understand all about love and commitment.
This is a reissue of an earlier book that you may already own -which I did.
But this updated book was given to me forom the author for an honest review.
This story about a no-nonsense cop and a studious researcher was a lark to read. I would have loved to get more into the characters -- especially Alex because his backstory was very interesting, but we only got to delve lightly into it. There was a bit of suspense, but mainly the story is a sexy romance -- the "opposites attract" kind. With as much backstory on the characters as Ms. Rice plotted, this could have been fleshed out into a longer, more deeply plotted story, but she kept it light and glossed over the couple's upbringing and past. I enjoyed it and will read more from this author.
